Small areas of damage are often easier to repair when they are addressed early.
A loose edge or small opening can gradually become larger with continued foot traffic. Repairing these areas sooner can help prevent further damage and preserve more of the original rug.
This is especially important with handmade rugs, where the structure of the rug itself can begin to loosen if damaged edges are left untreated.
An atypical repair we did recently, was for this hand-hooked rug that had damage to its edges. We repaired this rug to have it looking brand new.
We can also resize certain rugs and professionally finish the new edges by cutting and binding. This can give an existing rug an entirely new feel in a room.
We have seen older rugs transformed simply by adjusting the size.
