By the end of this period, the rug weaving industry had begun to truly flourish as India had developed a real talent for weaving rugs. Carpet weaving became a major medium of artistic expression and as a result of this nearly all Indian rug designs can trace their roots back to the Persian Empire.

Today, the innovative “carpet belt” is located in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
