Locally Made in Calgary: The Bear Rug

Reading Time: 1 mins.

Bold, expressive, and crafted entirely by hand in Calgary, our new Bear Rug series celebrates local artistry and wild imagination.
Each rug shows a bear mid-swim, captured in fiery oranges, deep blues, and rich reds. It's a visual statement that brings nature’s raw energy into your space.

This particular design was inspired by a bear sighting in Kananaskis, near Banff. Moved by the moment, the artist began work shortly after—and completed the piece over 10–12 months.

Designed and knotted by Indo's in-house master weaver, these rugs use luxurious Australian Merino wool with options for either a silk or wool base.

We currently have three available:

·       The Small Bear (1.10 x 1.08 ft)

A compact art piece with a luminous silk base, perfect for wall display or as an accent feature.

·       The Large Bear with Silk Base

Vibrant, detailed, and full of sheen.

·       The Large Bear with Wool Base

Richly textured and grounded with warmth.

If you plan to hang your rug, we can add a cotton backing for support—just give us a call or request a quote.

Visit our 17th Ave showroom to experience these wild, locally made works. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
