At Indo Designer Rugs, every rug tells a story, and sometimes, that story evolves with your space. Recently, one of our valued customers visited us with a request to rework their beloved 8x10 feet rug to better suit their new living area. Their vision was to transform it into a more compact 8x6 feet rug without losing its charm or functionality.
The Challenge / Personalized Consultation
This wasn’t just any rug. This Pokhara design was bought from Indo several years ago.
However, over time it had endured heavy foot traffic and use, resulting in a more speckled appearance and worn texture in certain areas. Overall still looking fantastic.
Our experienced staff knew this project required precision, care, and a deep understanding of both aesthetics and practicality. To begin, our team conducted a detailed consultation. We discussed the customer’s space, colour palette, and desired functionality of the rug. One important decision was selecting which side of the rug to preserve, since the rug had a brighter side and a darker side, both offering different visual impacts.
After careful consideration, the customer chose to retain the brighter side, making for a lighter, more uplifting finish in their new space.
Expert Craftsmanship in Action

Then, with the plan in place, our in-house master weaver Zahra stepped in.
Zahra meticulously measured and marked the rug, ensuring every cut was precise. She then carefully trimmed it down to size and began the process of binding—sewing the edges securely and neatly by hand with similar wool colour. The finishing touches took time and dedication. After binding, our staffs ensured every stray thread and imperfection was cleaned up. The final step? A thorough vacuuming to leave the rug looking as good as new.
A Satisfying Transformation
A week to 10 days later, the transformation was complete. What started as a well-loved but oversized rug was now a beautifully resized piece—tailored to fit perfectly in our customer’s new space. With minimal waste and maximum impact, it’s another example of how Indo Designers brings new life to timeless pieces.
